COMPANY FOUNDERS

Andrew Tolhurst ~ Director/Senior Engineer

From a young age Andrew gained an interest in all things mechanical, over time this grew into an interest in aviation and motor sport, in particular Formula One. Throughout his schooling he excelled in physics and drafting. In 2006 he started a Mechanical Engineering degree at the University of Wollongong and joined the Universities' FSAE race team. Becoming part of the Power Train group, with a goal to lead this group and head the design/tuning program.

In 2008 this goal was achieved when Andrew became the youngest Power Train leader in the team's illustrious history. Implementing a water to air inter-cooling system, dry sump system, revamp of the engine cooling system, and further optimization of the restrictor/turbo setup including reliably removing ~15Kg from the previous engine package (from a 220Kg car). The 2008 engine package was the lightest and most powerful package since the team developed the turbo package in 2004 incorporating many innovative systems some of which are only now well publicized as being widely used in Formula One, but at the time were unheard of.

It didn't take long for the desire to chase a career in Formula One to shift into a desire to engineer a "no limits" race cars, performance parts, and any idea the Tracmac team comes up with and to offer these designs to the market.

Blake Newman ~ Director/Manufacturing Officer

After moving to Wollongong in 2003 to pursue further education at the University of Wollongong in the field of Telecommunications, Blake soon took a keen focus in Management with particular attention on the use of Integrated Business Information Systems to aid in Product Design and Development, Supply Chain and Project Management. This encouraged him to undertake additional study at UOW and expanded his degree to cover these areas.

Always having a keen personal interest in performance cars, while at University joining the UOW FSAE team was the next logical step and in 2005 he did so with a desire to gain a more professional experience in the fields of automotive design and manufacture. Quickly gaining skills in CNC machine programming and manufacturing process, this gave the powertrain group the ability to undertake the majority of complex machining in-house significantly improving the turnaround time on complex parts, improving development and reducing weight on engine components and assorted parts on the entire car.

In addition to his education and FSAE experience, Blake worked for over 5 years manufacturing and designing automotive aftermarket performance products at Hyperflow Technologies and in this time gained invaluable experience in management, design, product development and manufacturing. Bringing the ability to rapidly manufacture Tracmac Engineering designed parts with swift turnaround times incorporating impeccable quality and consistency.
